Columbus, September 3, 2014 (STAT):-Rickenbacker International Airport is partnering with Cathay Pacific and Consolidated Aviation Services to provide facility for shippers and forwarders to load exports directly in Columbus and use Rickenbacker International Airport as a gateway to international destinations served by Cathay Pacific Cargo through their Hong Kong hub.

“Export services will provide the region’s shippers and forwarders with faster, more secure and direct services to the many cities served by Cathay Pacific through their extensive global network,” said Elaine Roberts, A.A.E, President & CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, operator of Rickenbacker International Airport.

Importers, exporters, freight forwarders and logistics service providers all benefit by having these expanded export services in the Ohio region. Shippers in nearby markets such as Detroit, Cleveland, Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis will also be able to utilize the new air cargo services.

Cathay Pacific operates three weekly scheduled 747-800 freighter flights to Rickenbacker from Hong Kong airport for U.S.-bound imports. Starting on Sept. 10, 2014, shippers and freight forwarders will have the ability to load exports to points around the globe via Cathay Pacific Cargo.

“Rickenbacker provides our forwarder customers and shippers in Columbus and throughout the Midwest region another option for their airfreight needs,” said Bridget Bell, Cargo Manager Midwest for Cathay Pacific Airways.
