Expeditors wins Lufthansa Cargo’s “Planet Award of Excellence”
MAY 19, 2015: Repeat success for Expeditors at the Global Partner Council, the annual top-level meeting of the biggest customers and top management of Lufthansa Cargo, the leading freight airline in Europe. For the first time since 2007, the "Planet Award of Excellence" has gone to the same company two years running. As last year, the prize went to US logistics service provider Expeditors. That time, Lufthansa Cargo was honouring Expeditors' consistently outstanding performance in terms of global cooperation and confirming the company's exceptional position in the global logistics industry. The company successfully defended its title by further developing cooperation and considerably increasing air freight tonnage, among other things. At the same time, Expeditors managed to impress by the intense cooperation on the transport of temperature-sensitive goods and exemplary global commitment to digitalising processes. "Expeditors has been part of Lufthansa Cargo's Global Partnership Programme since 2007 and cooperation is more successful than ever", explained Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech, Board Member Products & Sales at Lufthansa Cargo. "Both companies share the philosophy of consistently coordinating processes with one another and thus optimising business relationships. This improves quality, increases the benefit of digital processes and makes Expeditors and Lufthansa Cargo a really successful team." José Ubeda, Senior Vice President Air Cargo, accepted the award on behalf of Expeditors. "We are very proud to win the Planet Award of Excellence for the second time in a row. To receive this award from one of the leading airlines in the world is both recognition and motivation for us." The Lufthansa Cargo Global Partnership Programme is an important platform for the sustainable growth of Lufthansa Cargo and its most important customers. Apart from Expeditors, the eleven Global Partners include Agility, CEVA, DACHSER, DB Schenker, DHL Global Forwarding, Hellmann, Kühne+Nagel, Panalpina, UPS and UTi. Together, they account for around half of Lufthansa Cargo’s sales.
