Rotterdam, November 19, 2014 (STAT):- ECT ordered three new quay cranes again, to handle ULCS container vessels with a capacity of 18,000 TEU and more. They are tailor made for ECT and can be operated without any restrictions on the existing quay structures.
According to the Rotterdam daily newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, the cranes with an outreach of 24 containers, will be delivered in the course of 2015 and are scheduled to be operational next summer.
It is almost sure theat the cranes, like the five installed recently, are constructed by ZPMC from China. For their size, the quay cranes have a unique slim design. As a result the cranes weigh ‘only’ 1,500 tonnes.
