Gerber will succeed Dieter Vranckx as CEO of Brussels Airlines. A successor for Boxberg as chief commercial officer will be announced at a later date.

Peter Gerber takes over as CEO of Brussels Airlines and assumes the newly created position of executive vice president of the Lufthansa Group in Brussels. Dorothea von Boxberg succeeds Peter Gerber as chief executive officer of Lufthansa Cargo AG.

Gerber will succeed Dieter Vranckx as CEO of Brussels Airlines. Subject to the pending decision of the board of directors of SN Airholding, he will take up his position in Belgium on March 1, 2021. Together with Nina Öwerdieck, CFO of Brussels Airlines, and Edi Wolfensberger, COO of the Belgian airline, Gerber will continue to implement the company's Reboot Plus turnaround plan and build a strong, lean and competitive Brussels Airlines. In addition to managing the Brussels Airlines, he will also assume the newly created position of Lufthansa Group chief representative for European affairs in Brussels, thus representing the interests of the entire Lufthansa Group at European level.

Boxberg, who will become the CEO, will also be the chairwoman of the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo AG from March 1. The supervisory boards have to still approve these proposals. Gerber's appointment to the Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines is part of the Group-wide rotation policy for management positions.

Peter Gerber began his career with the Lufthansa Group in 1992, during which time he held various management positions in the Lufthansa Group. In June 2009, Gerber was appointed to the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo AG with responsibility for finance and human resources. In June 2012 Gerber joined the executive board of Lufthansa Passage Airlines and was responsible for human resources, IT and services, He has been chairman of the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo AG since May 2014.

Dorothea von Boxberg studied Industrial Engineering and Management at TU Berlin and ESCP/EAP Paris. From 1999 to 2005, she worked for The Boston Consulting Group in Stuttgart, most recently as project manager. In 2005, Boxberg moved to Star Alliance and was responsible for alliance development. In 2007, she joined Deutsche Lufthansa AG and from 2009 was head of the Strategy and Investments department at Lufthansa Passage. She then took on several management positions in product management at Lufthansa Passage. In 2015, she moved to Lufthansa Cargo, where she initially headed Global Sales Management before being appointed chief commercial officer of Lufthansa Cargo in 2018, advancing to the executive board.
