Shanahan will lead the business unit that includes Finance, Accounting, Business Management Services, Internal Audit and Financial Planning and Analysis. In this role, she will direct the financial and strategic management of the airport’s capital program and operating budget with annual revenues of approximately $900 million and a $1.4 billion capital program.

Shanahan has been with DIA since 2014, serving as the senior manager for capital planning and budget and more recently as the acting senior vice president of finance, where she was responsible for financial forecasting, management of the airport’s debt profile, aligning the capital program with the airport’s strategic objectives and the design and implementation of a new operations and maintenance budget project to ensure effective and efficient use of financial resources.

Prior to joining DIA, Shanahan was the financial manager and agency controller for the Denver Wastewater/Stormwater Utility Enterprise. She also spent seven years serving as the chief financial officer for the Colorado Springs Airport. Shanahan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and has served on a number of national boards and committees, including a task force at the White House, the City and County of Denver’s Employee Health and Benefits Committee, and the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
