DHL Freight opens new warehouse in one of Turkey’s top ten export cities, Manisa

July 06, 2018: In response to Turkey’s growing demand for logistics services, DHL Freight celebrated the grand opening of a new warehouse in the Manisa Organized Industrial Zone near Izmir, Turkey, on July 5.

The facility, which represents an investment in the high single-digit million euros, will meet requests from customers for warehousing services, which can now be provided in close proximity.

The company chose Manisa as the region exports to more than 100 countries worldwide and had an export volume worth nearly 3.5 billion Euros in 2017. This makes Manisa one of the top ten export cities in Turkey. Around 50 employees will work at DHL Freight’s new location, ten of whom are new additions to the company. Alongside Warehousing services, they will provide ta?lor-made value added services.

“We’ve chosen to make a significant investment in our own network here in order to meet our customers’ growing needs and take advantage of Turkey’s essential geographic location for logistics routes,” declared Uwe Brinks, CEO, DHL Freight.

Uwe Brinks led the opening ceremony, at which Hasan Kavci, managing director, DHL Freight Turkey was also present. The investment is part of DHL Freights strategy FREIGHT 2020 to become the undisputed market and quality leader for road freight. To this end, DHL Freight continuously invests in its network, including over 200 terminals in 32 countries.

“Manisa hosts Turkey’s first logistics park and is home to some of the country’s leading production and import/export companies,” explained Kavci. “Our new warehouse provides a great opportunity to play a role in these global operations.”
