November 28, 2017: DB Netz AG, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany has announced the appointment of Dr Roland Bosch as its new CEO. He succeeds Dr Jürgen Wilder who quit the company in October.

Currently a member of the DB Netz AG board, Dr Bosch is expected to assume his new position on December 1.

Berthold Huber, board member for passenger, freight and logistics of Deutsche Bahn said: “Roland requires no prologue as he is an outstanding colleague, and a hands-on rail manager. I am delighted to have him as the new CEO of DB Cargo.”

“With his strategic leadership skills and wealth of knowledge pertaining to interfaces and interdependencies between infrastructure and rail operations, Dr Bosch will be responsible to drive growth and innovation at DB Cargo, besides focusing on reinforcing a strong economic foundation for our company,” says Huber.

Armed with a degree in physics from Oxford, and PhD from the University of Tübingen, Germany, Bosch commenced his career in 1997 with the Boston Consulting Group. Subsequently, he joined DaimlerChrysler, Stuttgart in 2002 as the head of strategy, before getting transferred to Beijing in 2005 as CFO for the entire Northeast Asia.

In October 2010, he was appointed as CFO of DB Netz. Since 2013, Bosch was a Board Member for Production at DB Netz AG where he was responsible to safely run 40,000 trains every day in Germany. He was also responsible to implement the largest modernisation programme of Deutsche Bahn.
