May 17, 2017: Congo Airways has entered into contract with AFI KLM E&M for the C-Checks of two A320s that the airline operates on domestic routes. The C-checks are scheduled for this spring and will take place in Morocco, at the Aerotechnic Industries (ATI) facility at Mohamed V International Airport, Casablanca. ATI is a 50/50 joint venture between AFI KLM E&M and Royal Air Maroc which specialises in aircraft maintenance.

This latest contract is a continuation of the mutually beneficial relationship between Congo Airways, AFI KLM E&M, and the AIR FRANCE KLM group. Via its Air France Consulting subsidiary, the Group supported the Congolese government when the airline was being set up, while AFI KLM E&M was already partnering Congo Airways for line maintenance at its Kinshasa hub, along with engines, component, and aero structures support for its two A320s.

Désiré Balazire Bantu, CEO, Congo Airways, said, "Combined with the positive and constructive relations we already have, the very competitive positioning of the AFI KLM E&M tender was a decisive factor in our choice. At a time when we are expanding fast, with the forthcoming addition of a third A320 to our fleet, we more than ever need to be able to rely on an MRO partner with acknowledged expertise at international level."

Tommaso Auriemma, chief executive officer, Aerotechnic Industries, added, "This young airline is ahead of the curve in its development plan - a sign that it is meeting the large-scale mobility needs expressed by its customers in the Congo, and elsewhere in the region. And we will make sure we support them with maximum efficiency in growing their operations."
