Cochin, November 29, 2014 (STAT):-Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) has released a new logo and brand identity – Navaswagatham. The identity indicates a parallel with Kochi and Kerala, suggesting the importance of integrating nature, culture and community for both the organization as well as the places.

The launch event titled  “A Green Swagatham”  was held amidst great fanfare at the CIAL conference hall. The Chief Guest for the event, Honourable Minister K Babu unveiled the logo by playing the launch video. He then handed over a 3D version of the logo to MD VJ Kurian.

The identity was designed by Idiom Design and Consulting Ltd. (Idiom). The logo is derived from the palm leaf and its utilization as decoration through the thoranam in a flight like mode. It reflects the rootedness of the organization, the celebratory and welcoming nature of its culture and the green-ness of its aspirations.

The activities of the organization also indicate this, including the generation of its own renewable energy and its aim to become power neutral by 2016.The name reflects the new direction of the organization. The identity reflects this as well - the ascendance of the community, a celebratory and green culture for the organization as well as a responsibility towards greener skies for the planet.CIAL is the parent company of Cochin International Airport - the first greenfield airport built under public private partnership in India. Its unexpected yet resounding success paved the way for other public private partnerships in airports around the country, including Bengaluru and Hyderabad as well as meriting case studies from Harvard University, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Kozhikode. CIAL has since expanded into providing other services under its subsidiaries including CIAL Infrastructures Ltd. and CIASL. A tendering exercise for the branding of the organization was conducted earlier in the year. The winning bid was by Idiom, a firm based out of Bangalore. The firm, which is one of India’s foremost inter-disciplinary design firms focusing on both brand as well as space, has played key roles for several prestigious projects including Metrorio, Manipal Group, Future Group and Commonwealth Games 2010, among others.
