The exports segment had the highest growth since the beginning of the concession of the airport (in 2012) with a growth of 39.8 percent, in relation to March 2017, with a total of 8,031 tonnes. In the accumulated quarter, export growth reached 30.2 percent.

The imports also saw 19.9 percent growth in relation to March 2017, with a total of 11,676 tonnes moved last month, the best month of March in the last three years. In the first quarter of 2018, the Brazilian gateway has registered growth of 19 percent compared to the first three months of last year.

In the express shipments, the hub registers 26.5 percent surge in first quarter and 19.3 percent year-on-year in March this year.

According to Viracopos's chief operating officer, Marcelo Mota, the constant growth in cargo handling at the airport reflects resurgence in foreign trade and indicates that more customers have preferred to use the infrastructure of Viracopos because of the efficient and agile work that has been developed by the teams of the airport's cargo terminal.
