February 2, 2018: Cargo Network Services Corp (CNS), an IATA company recently promoted Michael White as president. He succeeded Lionel van der Walt who joined RCI Inc as executive vice president and CEO.

According to CNS, White would be responsible to oversee financial settlement systems, commercial operations and advocacy for its member airlines and forwarding customers.

White is an industry veteran with about four decades of expertise in the air transport industry. He joined CNS as vice president of government and industry relations in 2008 where he was supported US industry efforts to set standards for the air cargo advance screening (ACAS) program, adopted electronic consignment security declaration (eCSD) of the US Transportation Security Administration, besides other air cargo initiatives.

“Mike maintained a leadership role while working with industry and government stakeholders to make air cargo more secure and efficient. I am sure that CNS will be in good hands as we continue to modernise our business, while ensuring highest standards of safety and security,” said Doug Lavin, chairman of CNS.

Prior to CNS, White held operational management positions with Frontier Airlines, United Airlines and Cargo Service Center, and the Air Transport Association of America (now Airlines for America).

He was also the COO of SkyLink USA, which managed commercial operations at the Baghdad International Airport for USAID, peacekeeping operations in Darfur for the United Nations (UN), and support operations for NATO in Afghanistan.
