May 05, 2017: Last March 30, Bolloré Logistics Industrial Projects in France has executed the outstanding oversized transportation of a 400-tonne piece for a French nuclear power plant from the Paris region to the Flamanville site.

A special convoy of 16 multi-axle X 4 file for the delivery of the generator with a length of 30m by 5m wide arrived at destination safely. In total, about thirty people participated in this operation.

The operations started with the loading of heavy equipment at the Paris region on March 23 under the supervision of the Industrial Projects teams of Bolloré Logistics. The unloading and transport operations, aimed to deliver the generator at Flamanville site, took place in the port of Dielette with the support of Bolloré Ports in Cherbourg.

This very technical operation has required the deployment of many materials and equipment combined with an important teamwork in terms of study and operational coordination.

To reach those requirements, Bolloré Logistics Industrial Projects has implemented significant resources, including the 650-tonne heavy-loader crane from Le Havre and the only existing RORO barge in Europe that our teams specially brought from England for this operation.

Bolloré Logistics Industrial Projects had to take into account the tide schedules of the various ports in order to be able to make a stop the self-propelled barge. This barge docked following the technical studies carried out by our teams upstream, in the port of Dielette located 30 kilometre from Cherbourg. At low tide, the barge was able to open in order to let the trailer leave with the package.

In total, seven days were necessary to carry out this operation. The close collaboration between the teams Bolloré Logistics Projects France and Bolloré Ports Cherbourg has led to a perfect execution of transport operations, which fully satisfied our client.
