SEPT 14, 2015:– Beijing Capital International Airport Co. Ltd. (BCIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) for the establishment of a “sister airport” partnership under which the two airport authorities will strengthen co-operation and share best practices.

The agreement calls for the two international airports to exchange expertise in various areas and undertake advanced business initiatives, with an eye to building an effective and efficient air bridge to support exchange and trade between China and Canada.

Liu Xuesong, President and CEO of Capital Airports Holding Company (CAH) and Chairman of the Board of BCIA, hailed the MoU as a symbolic new bond between the two cities: “Beijing airport is the gateway for China and Montréal is the gateway for Eastern Canada. We welcome the opportunity to work together with our colleagues at ADM and to strengthen the relationship between the two cities for their mutual benefit.”

Jim Cherry, President and Chief Executive Officer of ADM, said he is delighted with the agreement. “We are extremely honoured to be part of the BCIA Sister Airport Agreement Committee,” he noted, adding: “This is indeed the beginning of a great period of friendship and collaboration. This achievement marks yet another major milestone for ADM, with the first direct Montreal–Beijing flight by Air China on September 29. We look forward to working together to share best practices, and are confident that more opportunities will emerge soon for collaboration between Montréal and Beijing in various sectors, including business, finance, tourism and culture.”
