Volga-Dnepr delivers gold mining ‘crusher’ to Magadan
Nov 16, 2016: An 88-tonne ‘jaw crusher’ used for gold mining has arrived at Russia’s Sokol Airport in Magadan onboard one of Volga-Dnepr Airlines’ An-124-100 freighters.
The jaw crusher, which was transported along with other equipment and tooling from Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg, will be used for primary ore crushing during the gold mining process in the Magadan Region.
Volga-Dnepr was able to load the cargo using the An-124-100’s onboard loading systems, removing the need for the additional cost of hiring in external cranes for the heavy shipment. The airline’s technical experts also prepared recommendations to the customer on the positioning of the shipment on the trailer that delivered it to the departure airport.
Sergey Bayushev, Lead Executive, Key Accounts at Volga-Dnepr, said, “We were not only able to provide a fast and secure delivery for our customer, we were also able to reduce their end-to-end transportation costs by eliminating the need for special loading equipment thanks to the unique capabilities of our An-124 aircraft.”
