AISATS recognised with ‘Warehousing Excellence Awards’

OCT 19, 2015: Air India SATS Airport Services Pvt. Ltd. (AISATS) scored a hat-trick at the 9^th Express, Logistics & Supply Chain Conclave by winning three “Warehouse Excellence Awards” in the “Warehouse Initiative of the Year”, “Warehouse Innovation of the Year”, and “Warehouse Lighting Solutions Company of the Year” categories.

“Warehouse Initiative of the Year” was awarded in recognition of the initiative taken by AISATS Bengaluru (BLR) to launch the Airport Cargo Community Portal (ACS- Airport Community System), thereby making AISATS BLR India’s first air freight terminal to be e-freight compliant as per IATA’s guidelines. The e-freight initiative enhances customer experience by faster shipment movement, tracking and cost reduction by implementing paperless processes and procedures.

“Warehouse Innovation of the Year” was awarded to AISATS BLR for being the first air freight terminal operator in India to introduce Carton Clamps in cargo operations for handling loose cargo. This not only reduces cargo damage but also increases operational efficiency and staff productivity by reducing cargo build-up time.

“Warehouse Lighting Solutions Company of the Year” was awarded in recognition of the efforts made by AISATS BLR to upgrade its air freight terminal by incorporating LED lighting solutions. The compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) and incandescent lighting at its 24,000 sq. ft. facility were replaced with LED lighting, leading to a reduction of energy consumption by 45 percent. Apart from replacing the lights, the air freight terminal was also designed with glass façades at its office to allow natural light to pass through, further conserving electricity required for lighting purposes during the day.

Looking ahead in the coming year, we will see the launch of Kempegowda International Airport’s first dedicated and purpose-build perishable cargo handling centre, “AISATS Coolport.”
