AirBridgeCargo conducts multi-modal pharma shipment trial for DHL

December 14, 2017: In an interesting development, AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) recently concluded a multi-modal shipment trial for DHL Global Forwarding (DGF) to deliver healthcare products between Moscow and Miami using an RKN active cargo container.

The trial was conducted in accordance to the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) cool chain standards.
According to reports, RKN is a certified air cargo ULD container, which ensures the integrity of pharma products by maintaining temperatures in the range of 2 to 8 centigrade.

It's controlled room temperature ranges between 15 and 25 centigrade. At any chosen set temperature within the operating, it ranges between 0 and 20 centigrade across the entire transportation process.

During the trial shipment, AirBridgeCargo's pharma logistics practitioners used an ABC pharma active solution with the help of an Envirotainer RKN unit, replacing real vaccines with service water in order to test the delivery process at each step of the transportation.

It also monitored the condition of the water, which indicated the state of vaccines under similar conditions.

Along with DHL Global Forwarding Russia, ABC's pharma experts supplied the Envirotainer RKN unit to the customer's warehouse, and accepted the cargo as a fully built-up unit, ready for carriage at its airport warehouse premises.

It also showcased a new solution in the Russian market for an RKN, which was physically loaded in a pharmaceutical cooler of a production plant without additional cross-dock operations during the main leg delivery to Miami.

The overall solution provided by the ABC and DGF team covered delivery, leasing and guaranteed customs clearance for the customer, and also ensured a minimum transit time and eliminated the temperature risk.

In September, AirBridgeCargo enhanced its pharma services further by gaining Envirotainer QEP accreditation at its global hub at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport and in Dallas.

Meanwhile, tn last two months, ABC received additional accreditations for its online stations based in Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Chicago.
