A first in last-mile logistics, Bluedistrib will deliver Microsoft’s XBOX ONE X to Cdiscount customers

November 6, 2017 : Taking into account the rush during the launch Microsoft’s XBOX series, one minute past midnight on November 7, Bluedistrib will deliver Microsoft’s XBOX ONE X to Cdiscount customers who are Greater Paris residents.

Although this console will be on sale that same day in stores not opening before 8 am, impatient gamers who pre-ordered their consoles on the Cdiscount website before November 2 will be able to pick them up from one of the 52 Bluedistrib relays, which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This is a world first and a real innovation in event logistics. The goods will be routed to Bluedistrib, which will then make them available to its various relays. At One Minute Past Midnight, customers will receive an SMS with a security code allowing them to pick up their consoles and be the first to start playing, even before the stores open.

“This is a highly secure logistics operation that combines physical and high-tech flows in order to guarantee to our partners Cdiscount and Microsoft, who place their trust in us, that there will be no distribution before the agreed time,” says Sandrine Ressayre, a Bluedistrib director.

This prestigious operation also marks the launch of a new range of Bluedistrib offers that bring together event logistics and the communication of event coverage. Deliveries on an agreed date and time combined with a comprehensive communication operation to support its partners during important events such as private sales, product launches, the start of sales periods, etc. For this occasion, Bluedistrib will be present on the Microsoft stand during the Paris Games Week 2017.

Bluedistrib is now a specialist in sustainable urban logistics, which until now have been organised around two shifts: the first during the night to process the e-commerce flow which will be available in its relays for pick-up early the next morning, and the second during the day for ‘same-day’ flows combining area collection and redistribution through its network within a few hours.

The relays are then used to store the parcels temporarily and to allow their speedy, constraint-free transfer from one round to another. Thanks to this system, they can cross the Ile de France region in a matter of hours! In particular, these same-day flows help local shopkeepers distribute their products outside of their opening hours and beyond their catchment area. Food Tech start-ups delivering packed lunches and Customer Service professionals with spare parts available near their intervention addresses, have already tried it out.
