DB Schenker has announced an investment in Warehousing1, a Berlin-based e-commerce fulfilment platform provider. Schenker Ventures, the global logistics service provider's holistic venturing section, has raised its first venture capital investment.

Schenker Ventures has joined Warehousing1's Series A investment, along with other top-tier venture capital companies with a track record of expanding e-commerce and LogTech enterprises.

Patric Hoffmann, Head of Schenker Ventures, "We want to nurture innovation in the logistics industry. Post-pandemic online shopping behavior is here to stay. Consumer brands around the globe have adapted their sales channels to the new market situation. The result is a multitude of new and diverse online shopping opportunities. Warehousing1 taps into that trend. We look forward to working together with the great team of Warehousing1. It will be a mutual learning opportunity."

Nils Aschmann, founder and CEO, Warehousing1, "For us it was important to gain active partners that are able and willing to provide us with further targeted expertise in the field of logistics. We want to enhance and digitalize the fulfilment experience for the booming e-commerce market. Therefore, we are very pleased that Schenker Ventures has decided to join us as a strategic investor."

Warehousing1 provides merchants with an online platform for rapidly and simply finding suitable warehouse space and fulfilment services. The four-year-old start-up consolidates the offerings of small and medium-sized logistics firms into a single core network. E-commerce enterprises may use the Warehousing1 platform to digitally manage their fulfilment and dynamically scale up their logistics as needed. The emphasis is on young, fast-growing direct-to-consumer companies.

Adding value beyond the financial contribution
Schenker Ventures gives the nascent e-commerce fulfilment firm a major edge by using DB Schenker's vast industrial network. In addition to financial assistance, Warehousing1 will have access to subject matter specialists in e-commerce retail and consumer products, warehouse management, and IT infrastructure.

Aster Capital, Wille Finance, HV Capital, and Base10 Partners are among the other investors that have acquired or increased their stake in Schenker Ventures. Warehousing1 has received almost ten million Euro in funding. The shareholders have decided not to reveal the sizes of individual shares.

Paulina Banszerus, responsible Investment Manager at Schenker Ventures: "Warehousing1 is right in the sweet spot of our investment strategy. The platform addresses a strongly growing market segment of logistics with a highly scalable digital and low-asset solution. Complementary to experienced financial investors, we want to create a competitive advantage through our network and expertise."

Schenker Ventures was founded in the summer of 2021. It encompasses all of DB Schenker's venture efforts and is structured on three pillars: Venture Building, Venture Studio, and Venture Capital.
