Kuehne+Nagel in the United Arab Emirates has received certification from the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) to store and possess raw pharmaceutical materials at its Dubai South facility. This major approval strengthens the company’s healthcare and life sciences logistics services and supports pharmaceutical supply chains across Africa and the Middle East.

The certification complements Kuehne+Nagel’s existing licence to store medical products, offering a full-service solution to pharmaceutical customers throughout the production cycle. It is expected to enhance access to compliant storage for raw materials, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and excipients, in regions where such infrastructure is vital.

Leon Diradourian, GCC Cluster Managing Director at Kuehne+Nagel, said, “This certification marks a significant milestone in strengthening Kuehne+Nagel’s healthcare and life sciences supply chain offering. It benefits customers across all stages of the production cycle in the healthcare industry.”

The EDE, the UAE’s independent pharmaceutical and medical devices regulator, granted the certification after a formal assessment of Safa Alkhayat, Kuehne+Nagel’s appointed pharmacist. Her successful licensing to handle raw materials under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards enabled the company to receive approval from the Ministry of Health.

Kuehne+Nagel’s 42,000 sqm fulfilment centre in Dubai South includes 25,500 sqm of temperature-controlled space for healthcare. The facility features cold chambers (2–8°C), restricted-access zones, and meets GxP standards, including GMP, Good Distribution Practice (GDP), and Good Storage Practice (GSP), supported by robust security systems.
