Prestwick Airport invests £ 2.17 million in new cargo equipment
The 24/7 UK cargo operations hub has taken delivery of its second new high loader as part of its ongoing development of freight services.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport, which has no restrictions or curfews on inbound or outbound flights, has invested £2.17 million in cargo equipment, cold storage solutions, and an X-ray machine. As part of its ongoing development of freighter services, the UK hub has received its second new high loader, which can support turnaround times for air cargo in under two hours for a 90-tonne load.

In an official release, Nico Le Roux, Business Development Director at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, said, “We have one of the fastest turnaround times for air cargo in the UK, no slot requirements, and no restrictions.”
The Scottish hub has acquired new equipment, including two high loaders with capacities of 20 tonnes and 35 tonnes, a heavy pushback tractor capable of handling any type of aircraft, 12 new dollies, and a new Rapiscan X-ray machine with a 7.5mm steel penetration, according to the official release. Additionally, the hub has invested in new cold storage facilities with a controlled temperature range of -30°C to +25C.
