Southwest appoints Brian Kilburn as its new head of cargo
He took over the new role after being MD, Integrated Operations Planning at Southwest Airlines for over 3 years.

In a significant leadership move, Southwest Airlines has appointed Brian Kilburn as the new Vice President of Cargo, Provisioning, and Ground Support Equipment. This appointment comes as the airline continues to expand its cargo operations and enhance its service offerings.
With over a decade of experience at Southwest Airlines, Brian brings a deep understanding of the airline's operations and culture. Most recently, he led the Integrated Operations Planning Team, where he was responsible for developing and executing cross-functional operational plans. His extensive experience in operations planning, delivery, and strategy will be invaluable in his new role.
Before joining Southwest Airlines in 2015 as Senior Business Consultant, Strategic Planning and Implementation, Brian gained experience in the financial sector with a Dallas-based hedge fund, where he managed investments and developed analytical skills. His military background, including serving as a tactics instructor and officer in the US Navy, has also instilled in him strong leadership and strategic thinking skills. Brian is a graduate of Harvard Business School, further solidifying his expertise in business management.
As Vice President of Cargo, Provisioning, and Ground Support Equipment, Brian will oversee the airline's cargo operations, provisioning, and ground support equipment. His appointment is expected to bring significant benefits to Southwest Airlines, including enhanced operational efficiency and effectiveness, improved strategic planning and delivery, and increased expertise in cargo and provisioning operations.

Brian succeeds Wally Devereaux, who held the position until March 31, 2025, and is now serving as an Executive Advisor for Cargo and Provisioning at Southwest Airlines. Wally joined Southwest Airlines in 1992 and went on to become a part of the cargo team in 1999. Throughout his 33-year career at SouthWest Airlines, he held key leadership positions, including Senior Director of Cargo and Charters and Director of Cargo Sales and Marketing
