Delta Air Lines Q2 cargo revenue up 16%

Delta Air Lines reported a 16 percent increase in cargo revenue at $199 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2024 compared to $172 million in Q22023, "a significant improvement from prior trends."

For the first six months of 2024, cargo revenue came in at $377 million as against $381 million in H12023, says an official release.

Total operating revenue was up seven percent at $16.6 billion for the quarter ended June and net income was down 29 percent at $1.3 billion. For H12024, net revenue was up seven percent at $30.4 billion and net income declined eight percent to $1.3 billion.

"Thanks to the incredible work of our 100,000 people, Delta is delivering industry-leading operational performance and best-in-class service for our customers," says Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines. "We delivered record June quarter revenue and pre-tax income of $2 billion with a 15 percent operating margin. Our people are the best in the industry, and we are pleased to recognise their efforts with more than $640 million accrued in the first half toward next year's profit sharing.

"For the September quarter, we expect a double-digit operating margin and a pre-tax profit of approximately $1.5 billion. With strong first half results and visibility into the second half, we remain confident in our full-year guidance."
