Transworld has operated a dedicated air charter between India and the United Arab Emirates to move food and essential commodities, as disruptions in the Gulf region affect supply chains. The company confirmed that the Sharjah–Mumbai–Sharjah charter flight was completed on March 24, 2026, ensuring continuity of cargo movement during a period of uncertainty.

The operation was carried out as geopolitical tensions in the Gulf continue to impact trade corridors and logistics networks. Transworld said it activated its air charter capabilities to maintain the flow of essential goods between the two countries, which share strong trade and economic ties.

The company stated that conventional freight routes were facing operational risks, prompting the deployment of a dedicated air solution. The charter flight operated without disruption and ensured that shipments reached their destinations on time. The movement included food products and essential commodities, which remain critical to supply stability.

Transworld said the initiative reflects its role in supporting supply chain continuity and food security between India and the UAE. The company added that such operations are necessary during periods when standard logistics channels face constraints.

Speaking on the development, Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan, Chairman of Transworld, said: “In periods of uncertainty, agility and decisive action become critical. To manage this disruption, the true strength of a logistics partner lies in its ability to respond swiftly and decisively. This air charter operation demonstrates our commitment to maintaining the seamless movement of essential commodities between India and the UAE, while reinforcing and strengthening the deep-rooted partnership between the two nations.”

Ritesh S. Ramakrishnan, Managing Director, Transworld, added: “Speed, reliability, and execution excellence are critical in today’s dynamic logistics environment. We will continue to invest in flexible and scalable logistics solutions that address evolving market challenges.”

Transworld said the India-UAE corridor remains one of the most active bilateral trade routes, supported by long-standing economic cooperation and a large Indian diaspora in the UAE. The company, which has operated in the UAE for more than four decades, continues to provide shipping, logistics and supply chain services across this corridor.

The air charter is part of a wider strategy to expand time-critical logistics capabilities. The company said it is investing in charter operations to provide alternatives when traditional freight routes are constrained.

In parallel with the air operation, Transworld also deployed its vessel SSL Godavari to support cargo movement between India and the UAE, focusing on essential commodities.

Transworld, established in 1977 and headquartered in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, operates across shipping, supply chain, aviation and food solutions. Its services include ship owning and management, air charter operations, warehousing, cold chain logistics, inland transport, freight forwarding, food processing, and project logistics.
