FEB 7, 2015: Turkish Cargo has opened its new cargo terminal. With the launch of the new cargo facility, operational processes have been redesigned and service quality has been maximized. The new facility has introduced the innovations in cargo. The specialties of the cargo terminal are bigger cargo admission area, acceleration in cargo admission and operational processes, special cargo storage areas in different types and sizes, combined operation areas, single-process flow in operation, bigger and proper operational area, higher volume in the storage area and inclusive and higher quality security system.

Annual tonnage capacity of the terminal is 1.2 million tons. Total floor area used (airside and landside): 71.000 m², closed warehouse area: 43.000 m², special storage area: 3.000 m² and special cargo ULD storage area: 700 m².

Special Storage Areas (39 separate storage areas): cold storage (-21 °C, 0 °C, 2-8 °C, 15-25 °C); live animals (AVI); dangerous goods (DG); vulnerable (VUN) cargo; valuable (VAL) cargo; and radioactive substances.

Cargo Admission and Delivery: The offices, where the customers will perform their processes, have been modernly designed considering the waiting areas, as well. Cargo admission and delivery is performed through 53 gates. There are also several gates dedicated to TK Plus and special cargo

Storage Processes: The processes have been accelerated and the flexibility has been increased following combination of import and export operation areas. Import and export rack capacity may be increased by 2.5 times. Special cargo area has been increased by 3 times. Total capacity thereof may be increased up to 6 times through the racking systems. 39 separate storage rooms, at four different temperature ranges and for nine different types of cargo, allow for storage of many different kinds of cargo such as medicines, food supplies and flowers at different areas

Operational Processes: Inbound-outbound capacity of ULDs has been increased by 5.5 times, thus eliminating one of the main inconveniences in the operation. Cargo build-up and break-down processes has been performed in a more easier and rapid way through the lowering workstations. In respect of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, the number of build-up and break-down stations has been increased by 2.5 times. The connection between warehouse and between land and air sides has been simplified and accelerated.
