SpiceJet operates its first freighter flight to Baghdad from India

SpiceJet, India’s air cargo operator, has added Baghdad to its international cargo network. The airline operated its maiden freighter flight carrying 20 tonnes of critical medical supplies from Delhi to the capital city of Iraq on May 11. The airline deployed its Boeing 737 freighter aircraft for the assignment which departed for Baghdad from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport early this morning.

“Baghdad is the latest addition to our network in the Middle East. We transported 20 tonnes of Covid-19 related medical supplies to Iraq today and are thankful for each and every opportunity that we get to serve in these times of crisis.” Ajay Singh, chairman, managing director, SpiceJet.

Till date, SpiceJet has transported close to 6650 tons of cargo on more than 916 flights since the nation-wide lockdown began. Of the 916 flights operated, 337 were international cargo flights.

SpiceJet has operated special cargo flights to and from Cambodia, Guangzhou, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Colombo, Dubai, Kabul, Myanmar, Sharjah, Male, Kuala Lumpur, Ukraine and a host of other places.
