March 5, 2018:  Milaha, a leading Qatar-based maritime and logistics player has launched its first phase of the warehousing facility at the Milaha Logistics City, which is dedicated to temperature-controlled cargo.

Located in an area admeasuring 35,000 square metres, the new warehousing facility marks Milaha’s foray into cold chain solutions, which will cater to the food industry, pharmaceuticals, and other fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

The facility is split into a frozen storage area, a chilled storage area, and a temperature-controlled storage area, ranging from -22 to +22 degree Celsius.

The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art and environment-friendly technology, which earned it a sustainability award at the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD) summit held recently in Qatar. The new facility is also one of the tallest warehouses by height (22 meters) in Qatar, which allows more storage per square metres.

Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai, president and CEO of Milaha said: “Milaha Logistics City is a significant investment on our part in Qatar’s supply chain infrastructure, particularly in cold chain capabilities, and we expect it to be a key enabler for the growth of logistics sector in Qatar. We want to give our clients more sophisticated options to access the local market. Mazen Kloub, VP logistics of Milaha said: “We are already witnessing a tremendous response for the new facility, which is ideally located on the orbital road with close proximity to Qatar’s main airport and commercial seaport, and it offers quick, easy access to Doha and beyond. We look forward to working with our clients and partners to help them seize the opportunities that this facility will enable.”

The 35,000 square metres warehousing facility is part the initial phase of a larger development, which includes other specialised warehousing options that is aimed at providing Milaha’s clients with advanced supply chain solutions.

The construction of the project was managed by Milaha’s real estate arm, Milaha Capital, which ensured the development was adopted and complied with the highest international standards in safety, security, and technology.
