New Delhi, November 5, 2014(STAT):-Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, today launched its inaugural flight from Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City, expanding its global travel footprint in the ASEAN region. The airline will offer seamless connections to cities in the ASEAN region and beyond Ho Chi Minh to Sydney, Melbourne and Hanoi, and within Vietnam with our codeshare partner Vietnam Airlines.

To mark the take off of its inaugural flight from Delhi’s new Terminal T3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, the airline held a multi-faith pooja and lit a ceremonial lamp in celebration of the occasion. The lamp lighting ceremony was led by HE Ton Sinh Thanh, Ambassador of Vietnam and Jet Airways CCO, Mr Raj Sivakumar, and was attended by the airline’s staff and senior management.

Ho Chi Minh City will be the 22nd international destination on Jet Airways’ international network.

The introduction of the new service follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on September 15, 2014 between Jet Airways and Vietnam Airlines, the flag carrier of Vietnam. The agreement makes provision for the two carriers to operate and jointly promote direct air services. India and Vietnam have been strategic trade and investment partners since the establishment of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2010.

This daily service, which connects the Vietnamese capital with Delhi and Mumbai via Bangkok, will offer the benefits of seamless travel to guests from South East Asia wishing to visit popular Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in India. Further, this new flight will strengthen the airlines’ global travel footprint in the ASEAN region.

Mr Gaurang Shetty, Senior Vice President – Commercial, Jet Airways, said “Jet Airways is delighted to launch its new service from Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City via Bangkok. The region is increasingly popular as a holdiay destination and our flights will meet the increased demand for convenient travel options. the neewe services will also support growing trade and investment links with both Vietnam and Thailand.”

The airline also introduced a third daily direct service from its international gateway in Mumbai to Bangkok. The new afternoon service will provide seamless connectivity to guests from the airline’s domestic network to Ho Chi Minh City and beyond.
