AEI delivers B737-400SF conversion to Southern Air

Aeronautical Engineers (AEI) announced that it has delivered the sixth B737-400SF freighter to DHL. Southern Air will operate the aircraft for DHL Express in the Americas. The aircraft is a high gross weight B737-400SF (MSN 26334) built in 1996 and was converted at Commercial Jet’s Dothan, Alabama facility, which is one of five authorized AEI Conversion Centers worldwide. The aircraft was sourced and financing provided through Strategic Air Finance LLC.
Planned routes for the B737-400SF’s include flights from Caracas (CCS) Venezuela, to Barbados (BGI) and Trinidad and Tobago (POS) in the Caribbean, as well as from Caracas to Bogota (BOG) Colombia, and Panama (PTY). In the United States, the B737-400SF’s will add flights from the DHL Express Cincinnati Hub in (CVG) to several cities along the Northeast and Midwest, including Philadelphia (PHL), Hartford (BDL) and St. Louis (STL).
AEI’s B737-400SF shall provide DHL with an Ancra CLS capable of carrying multiple ULD’s including, (10) 88”x125” AAC Containers, P1 to P10 or (8) 96”x125” ULD’s plus, (1) 53”X88”X64” Pallet or AEP/AEH or 60.4”X61.5” AKE/LD3 or 61.5”X88”X56”H AYY. This unique flexibility has been designed by AEI to allow the operator to immediately adapt to multiple ULD configurations at a moment’s notice. When combined with proven reliability, the AEI Converted B737-400SF will allow DHL to keep their aircraft - “In the air, generating revenue”.
