Frankfurt Airport cargo rises 4.8% in February despite weather disruptions

Cargo volumes at Frankfurt Airport rose 4.8% to 159,362 tonnes in February 2026, despite weather and strike disruptions.

The airport welcomed around 3.9 million passengers during the month, with traffic remaining stable year-on-year. Passenger numbers were affected by strike action and winter weather-related flight cancellations, which impacted about 70,000 travellers in total.

Aircraft movements at Frankfurt declined by 2.9 percent year-on-year to 29,320 take-offs and landings. Accumulated maximum take-off weights (MTOWs) also fell by 2.4 percent to approximately 1.9 million metric tonnes.

Across the Group’s international portfolio, most airports managed by Fraport recorded passenger growth in February 2026. Ljubljana Airport reported a 17.2 percent increase in traffic to 95,121 passengers.

The Group’s two Brazilian airports, Fortaleza Airport and Porto Alegre Airport, saw combined passenger traffic rise by 14.7 percent to about 1.1 million passengers. At Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, traffic increased by 4.2 percent year-on-year to 2.0 million passengers.

In Greece, the 14 regional airports managed by Fraport handled 720,587 passengers, marking a 9.1 percent increase compared with February last year. The Bulgarian coastal airports of Burgas Airport and Varna Airport together welcomed 79,968 travellers, up 11.4 percent.

In contrast, traffic at Antalya Airport declined by 3.8 percent year-on-year to 865,187 passengers in February.

Overall, the total number of passengers across all airports actively managed by Fraport increased by 3.1 percent year-on-year to around 8.7 million during the reporting month.
