Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), a joint venture between ST Engineering and Airbus, has announced the rollout of its first A330P2F aircraft for Air Transport Services Group (ATSG). This marks the beginning of a major programme, with EFW set to redeliver a total of 30 A330P2F aircraft to ATSG.

ATSG’s commitment to the A330P2F reflects a strategic step, diversifying their existing in-service fleet of 149 aircraft with the addition of next-generation wide-body freighters from EFW, according to an official release from EFW.

The re-delivered A330P2F is the first freighter that ATSG is placing with its customer, ULS Airlines Cargo, a Turkish cargo carrier. The aircraft was converted at EFW’s facility in Dresden. Alongside conversions in Dresden, EFW is also conducting A330P2F conversions for ATSG through its partners, Turkish Technic in Istanbul and facilities in China.

“The delivery of our first A330 passenger-to-freighter conversion marks a defining moment in our journey to reshape the future of global air cargo. As the first of 30 conversions, this aircraft represents our commitment to innovation and competitiveness in growing e-commerce markets around the globe. We do not want to just meet demand for capacity - we want to ensure we remain a leading lessor of freighter aircraft,” says Todd France, Chief Commercial Officer, ATSG.

“We are excited about this first A330 freighter aircraft that ATSG provides to ULS Airlines Cargo. Our next-generation widebody freighter solution will be a strong enabler in helping ATSG meet the growing demand for air cargo,” says Lee London, SVP Sales & Marketing, EFW.

EFW recently announced that it has signed an agreement with Confity Capital Partners (Confity) for the Airbus A330P2Fs. This partnership aims to bring EFW's P2F solutions to the Indian market.

The A330P2F programme offers two variants: the A330-200P2F and the A330-300P2F, both featuring advanced technology that provides airlines with enhanced operational and economic benefits. The A330-200P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 60 tonnes for distances exceeding 7,700 km, while the larger A330-300P2F has a gross payload capacity of up to 62 tonnes and a containerised volume of approximately 18,581 cubic feet, the release added.
