TAM gets Transport Canada approval for Saab 340 conversion
Nearly 40 Saab 340A and 340B aircraft have been converted into full freighters under the TAM STC.
Taby Air Maintenance (TAM) has received approval from Transport Canada for its Saab 340 cargo conversion supplemental type certificate (STC). This approval follows earlier certifications from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Nearly 40 Saab 340 aircraft, including both Saab 340A and Saab 340B models, have been converted into full freighters under the TAM STC, according to an official release from TAM.
This conversion features a strong design, with a complete Class E cargo compartment that does not require smoke curtains.
Use of lightweight and strong materials such as carbon fiber has made it possible to keep the aircraft basic mass low with high useful cargo load, the release added.
The aircraft has a maximum payload of 9,400 lbs and a range of 1,600 nm.
“We are happy that the STC is now approved by Transport Canada, which makes the Conversion available for Canadian operators, says Pär Gulle, Managing Director, TAM
