Munich airport announces an increase in their cargo-only services with Qatar Airways operating regular flights to and from Munich by Boeing 777. Qatar Airways operates this service on behalf of DB Schenker.

DB Schenker, the international logistics provider, recently announced the expansion of its global flight operations in India with a direct weekly chartered freighter service, connecting Munich and Chicago Rockford airports from Bengaluru.

The weekly flight operations initiative is a part of the Global Flight Operations Program which further marks the company's leadership in Air Freight services in India.

The inaugural flight on the new route was welcomed by Alexander Gentes (Head of JETcargo HUB South at DB Schenker 1st from left), Gerold Sellmayer (Head of Air Cargo South at DB Schenker 2nd from left), Bernd H. Foerster (Senior Manager Regional Cargo North Europe at Qatar Airways 1st from right) and Frank Hermann (Regional Cargo Manager Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg 2nd from right) together with Markus Heinelt (Director Cargo Development at Munich Airport 3rd from right)

The first flight departed on 10 January with 100 tonnes of cargo to Germany and the US and caters to the pharma, automotive, and other industries.

The routing starts in Bengaluru, India and leads via Qatar's capital Doha to Munich and then on to Chicago. On the return flight, in exactly the opposite rotation, the freighter reaches Munich every Tuesday.

Munich's cargo network will thus be expanded by more significant destinations. This new freight service proves once again that, even in times of pandemic, Munich Airport plays an important role as a reliable part of the infrastructure and a key component of global supply chains.
