LATAM Cargo integrates IATA’s DG AutoCheck

LATAM Cargo has become the first airline in the Americas to integrate IATA’s DG AutoCheck solution for dangerous goods management directly into its core operating system, aiming to improve shipment acceptance, reduce operational friction and enhance service reliability.

The integration enables real-time validation of dangerous goods information and automatically alerts customers to any discrepancies. This allows inconsistencies to be identified and corrected early, helping to prevent delays and disruptions to planned shipping schedules.

The digital tool automatically checks whether the Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods (DGD) complies with IATA regulations. It also supports cargo acceptance agents with an interactive checklist to standardise the physical inspection of packaging and classification, reducing the risk of errors and improving the efficiency of specialist reviews.

The validated data can also be reused to automate the creation of the Notification to Captain (NOTOC), reducing administrative workload and improving digital traceability across shipments. LATAM Cargo said the automation will allow acceptance staff to focus more on customer support while strengthening compliance and audit readiness.

The solution was developed through close collaboration between LATAM Cargo, IATA and Wipro. The technical team integrated the tool into Croamis, the airline’s core system, while ensuring a stable and highly scalable operation across its network.

Following a successful launch at its Miami station, LATAM Cargo plans to gradually roll out the technology across its network. The phased approach will allow the solution to be adapted to different operational environments and local requirements, ensuring consistent and reliable performance at each station.

The implementation forms part of LATAM Cargo’s broader strategy to adopt technologies that enhance the customer experience. In the long term, the airline aims to further reduce manual processes and optimise every touchpoint, creating a seamless, digital, transparent and secure end-to-end cargo experience.
