Hamad Airport reports 12% YoY cargo growth in first half of 2024
Hamad International Airport expanded its network this year by welcoming new airlines partners, including Japan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, China Southern Airlines, and Akasa Air.
Hamad International Airport (DOH) has reported 12 percent cargo tonnage growth to 1,249,295 tonnes in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
While Q1 2024 marked the Airport's busiest quarter yet with 626,338 tonnes of cargo, surpassing all previous records set in 2023, June 2024 saw Hamad Airport handling 213,873 tonnes and Q2 2024 at 622,956 tonnes.
It also witnessed a significant increase of 25 percent in passenger traffic. Additionally, its aircraft movement has grown by 19 percent, the total number of bags handled has grown by 19 percent.
Hamad International Airport expanded its network this year by welcoming new airlines partners, including Japan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, China Southern Airlines, and Akasa Air. This is in addition to Iberia, Xiamen Airlines and Vistara joining the airport’s network late last year.
“This expansion underscores the airport’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and providing more travel options for passengers and has significantly boosted tourism, fostered trade relationships and fortified business ties between Qatar and the global community,” reads the release.
