Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has expressed strong support for the initiatives outlined in the Chief Executive’s latest policy address, which aims to enhance Hong Kong’s status as a premier air cargo hub. These forward-looking proposals are expected to play a pivotal role in maintaining the city’s global competitiveness in the aviation sector.

Wilson Kwong, Chief Executive of Hactl, stated, “Hactl welcomes the package of initiatives announced in today’s policy address, which will support the sustainable development of Hong Kong’s air cargo industry.”

Notable initiatives include the promotion of sustainable aviation fuel, expansion of the aviation network, and further development of the local logistics sector. Additionally, the focus on improving sea-air intermodal cargo transhipment with Dongguan, extending the Air Transhipment Cargo Exemption Scheme to other intermodal modes, and advancing international cargo collaboration with Zhuhai Municipality will further solidify Hong Kong’s position as a leading global air cargo hub renowned for its operational efficiency.

Kwong highlighted Hactl’s ongoing commitment to sustainable practices, noting that the company has consistently supported the Action Plan on Modern Logistics Development and welcomed the decision to advance it further. He stated that Hactl has been an early adopter of green fuels, robotics, and artificial intelligence, reaffirming the company’s commitment to incorporating innovative technologies into its operations.

Kwong emphasised that Hactl would continue to invest in infrastructure and develop new services with a strong focus on sustainability. He further mentioned that the company’s efforts to become one of the first cargo handling operators in Asia to achieve IATA Environmental Assessment certification demonstrate its dedication to environmental responsibility.

He further highlighted the importance of investing in human capital, stating that Hactl will continue to cultivate a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of harnessing emerging technologies to deliver exceptional service to its customers.
