Global GSA Group has expanded its airline partner portfolio in Spain after its subsidiary Mondial Airline Services Spain won the tender to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo in the country, coinciding with the launch of a new direct cargo-capable service between Madrid and Guangzhou.

Since December 2, 2025, China Southern Airlines has been operating a Boeing 787-9 flight three times a week between Madrid and Guangzhou, adding direct bellyhold capacity between Spain and southern China. The route marks China Southern Airlines Cargo’s entry into the Spanish market with a scheduled widebody connection.

Mondial Airline Services Spain is acting as the airline’s local representative, handling commercial activities, customer engagement and operational coordination. The local team functions as an extension of China Southern Airlines Cargo in Spain, supporting route establishment and ongoing market development.

The first flight carried a mix of general cargo and temperature-sensitive shipments. With departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the service provides a direct link to Guangzhou Baiyun, a major cargo hub, with onwards connections across China, Asia, Australia and New Zealand through China Southern’s wider network. The airline is accepting bookings for general cargo, time-sensitive shipments and specialised products, including pharmaceuticals and seafood from Spain.

Each Boeing 787-9 flight offers a payload capacity of 15,000 kg and 80 cubic metres, positioning the route to support regular export and import flows between the two markets while offering additional connectivity beyond Guangzhou.

“We are delighted to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo now also in Spain and will ensure that this new routing very quickly becomes profitable through our access to state-of-the-art digital solutions offering real-time market intelligence, Mondial’s substantial local knowledge and its close collaboration with Spain’s freight forwarding community. Mondial Airline Services Spain is committed to supporting China Southern’s expansion into Spain, and its team plays a critical role in aligning the airline's global strategy with local market realities to ensure long-term route performance,” says Aytekin Saray, Chief Executive Officer of Global GSA Group.

Founded in 1995, Global GSA Group operates a global airline representation network and continues to expand its presence across Europe through local subsidiaries and airline partnerships.
