Airbus Beluga Transport secures AOC for cargo flights
BelugaXL, with dimensions of 63 metres in length and 8 metres in width, has the world's largest cargo bay cross-section among existing cargo aircraft. It can carry two A350 XWB wings, surpassing the BelugaST's capacity of one. With a maximum payload of 51 tonnes, it boasts a range of 4,000 km (2200 nm).
So far we’ve delivered payloads mainly for Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence and Space in 2022-23 and we're going to expand our customer base in 2024: Benoît Lemonnier, Airbus Beluga Transport (AiBT).

The Beluga has been transporting diverse cargo, from space station components and delicate artwork to industrial machinery and fully intact helicopters. The company is actively recruiting pilots, aiming to reach around 36 pilots by 2026 with nine already on board.
AiBT will focus on short-haul trips connecting Airbus' European sites. Presently, the fleet comprises three aircraft with the fourth slated for induction in 2024.
Our goal is to have a fleet of five Belugas operating all around the world. To achieve this will be the culmination of several years of hard work: Olivier Schneider, AiBT.
