Jun 26, 2017: Aviation industry veteran Shannetta Griffin PE, will join the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) as its Chief Development Officer in mid-July. Griffin will oversee the Development division which manages the planning, design and construction of all facilities at the three airports owned and operated by the independent airport authority in Columbus, Ohio, the nation’s 14th largest city.

In her role she will lead one of the largest developments the region has seen: the new passenger terminal and related development at John Glenn Columbus International Airport. While the terminal is the hallmark of the development program, it’s only one of many projects in the works, starting with the 2018 spring construction of a new rental car facility slated to open in 2020.

“With more than 30 years of industry experience, Shannetta offers the unique combination of extensive technical knowledge and an appreciation for the value of collaboration among business partners and community stakeholders,” said Elaine Roberts, President and CEO, CRAA. “Her expertise and leadership will be key as we embark on executing projects that will enhance the traveler experience and drive economic growth in the region.”

Griffin most recently served as the Senior Director of Planning & Development for the Indianapolis Airport Authority where she led a team responsible for engineering, planning, construction and supplier diversity. “I look forward to joining the highly regarded airport leadership team in Columbus,” said Griffin. “Together we will work with community partners to best serve all of our customers and keep the region’s economic growth top-of-mind as we go about the business of connecting Ohio with the world.”

Griffin’s previous work includes 15 years with CDM Smith after serving 10 years with program management teams at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport with increasing responsibility and oversight during her tenure with both organizations. She has extensive experience planning, designing, constructing, managing budgets and coordinating with stakeholders on various airport projects including inline baggage systems, on-airport hotels, hangars, terminals, runways etc.
