November 14, 2017: DHL Freight has planned for a multi-million investment to construct a state-of-the-art freight hub at the Hanover airport business park in Langenhagen, Germany.

According to reports, DHL would deploy around 260 employees to take care of the day-to-day scheduling and consolidation for its European freight network from the new site. The facility has been designed in accordance with the latest environmental standards, which will help in contributing to the further increasing DHL Freight’s service quality for LTL (less than truckload) and FTL (full truck load) transport.

“With the help of our FREIGHT 2020 program, we wish to establish DHL Freight as a quality leader in the overland transport segment in the future. It‘s possible only by investing in our people, augmenting services and network. And the new freight center in Langenhagen near Hanover is an important step forward in this regard,” said Uwe Brinks, CEO of DHL Freight.

The Langenhagen site near Hanover Airport was preferred for its good transport connections for both long-haul and short-haul transport on the 63,000 sqm site.

Meanwhile, the transshipment terminal equipped with over 80 loading bays and stretching across more than 7,800 sqm is expected to offer sufficient capacity to process over 600,000 tons of LTL cargo every year. The development of the DHL Freight site also includes consolidation of the two existing Hanover sites—Stelingerstrasse and Büttnerstrasse at the new location.
