Avianca Cargo ships flowers for Valentine's Day

Avianca Cargo transports over 11,800 tonnes of flowers for Valentine's Day

February 14, 2018: In the last 22 days, Avianca Cargo transported 11,853 tonnes of flowers from Bogota, Medellin and Quito, to meet the growing demand during the Valentine's Day across the globe.

The airline deployed 190 flights specially to transport a variety of flowers, thereby registering a growth of 4.35 percent in volume, compared to the same period last year.

The airline used regular and charter flights for Los Angeles, Miami and San Juan de Puerto Rico to transport flowers.

Additionally, Avianca Cargo transported 362 tonnes of flowers to Amsterdam, 198 tonnes to Los Angeles and 406 tonnes to other destinations, such as Madrid, San Juan de Puerto Rico, London, Brisbane, Sydney, Salvador, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Toronto and New York.

Flowers transported from Bogota, included roses, carnations and ships stand out, while pompoms, hydrangeas and chrysanthemums were exported from Medellín. On the other hand, roses and gypsos were mobilized from Quito.

Andres Osorio, director general of Avianca Cargo said: “In order to meet our goals during this season, we focused on timely delivery of consignments to our customers. Recently, we expanded of our warehouses at the Miami Airport to handle large cargo volumes in this station.”
