68 horses aboard Etihad Cargo make way to Hong Kong’s Longines Masters

Feb 11, 2019: Etihad Cargo will operate a charter flight to deliver 68 horses from Liege Airport in Belgium to Hong Kong International Airport for the annual Longines Masters of Hong Kong event that will take place on February 15-17.

The Abu-Dhabi based carrier has been chosen by EEM World, a leading organiser of equestrian events, to transport the special shipment of show jumping horses.

The airline informs that this is the third consecutive year it has been selected to fly these elite horses.

The horses transported under the airline's specialized product for equines, %u2018SkyStables', will be accompanied by professional grooms and a veterinarian for the round-trip journey. They will handle the horses during loading and throughout the duration of the flight to ensure they remain comfortable and calm.

Wiam Al Qamshui, Business Development manager responsible for Etihad Cargo's Equine product %u2018SkyStables' said: "Today's announcement comes on the back of a record 2018 that saw us transport over 2,000 horses for the first time."

The airline's Boeing 777 freighter equipped with a specially designed ventilation structure and temperature control system, will be utilised to transport the horses. It is also equipped with horse %u2018air stalls' that designed with non-slip floors.

The stalls are stocked with hay and water for the horses to remain fed and hydrated throughout the flight.
