Oct 20, 2016: The new Chairman of AAI, Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra is on a mission. With a slew of new initiatives for the civil aviation sector, Mohapatra is in the process of executing a turnaround plan to make Airports Authority of India more profitable.
One such intiative is the incorporation of a subsidiary company, AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company. The new company was formed to spin-off the cargo operations of AAI.
The newly formed company will be officially launched on October 25 in New Delhi. P Ashok Gajapati Raju Union Minister of Civil Aviation will be the Chief Guest for the event. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha will be the Guest of Honour and Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary Ministry of Civil Aviation will also grace the occasion.
Air cargo is integral to the growth of the nation and AAI has been pioneering the development of international as well as domestic cargo operations in the country resulting in active cargo operations at various metro and non-metro airports as a result of which, today the civil aviation is looking forward to multiple cargo hubs in the country.
AAI manages 125 airports including 18 International Airport. After taking charge as Chairman of AAI in July this year, Mohapatra aims to raise the standard and internal efficiency to cut down on cost, wasteful expenditures and avoid delay.
