Automobile Manufacturer’s Association (ACEA) of Europe has welcomed the adoption of the European Parliament’s regulation on reducing noise emissions from commercial vehicles and cars over the next 12 years. The new legislation will ensure emission targets phased in by 1 July 2016, 2020 and 2024 which would, in turn, ensure the most powerful trucks reducing their noise outputs from 81 decibels to 79 decibels. Other commercial vehicles will be given a margin of between one and nine decibels over the new car limit of 68 decibels, depending on the power of the vehicle. The European Parliament recently voted that all new types of vehicles registered after July 2016 will have to abide by the new regulations. Whilst the vans will have to produce two decibels less than their current level, the trucks will have to produce it one decibel less. By the second and third phase in 2020 and 2024, this legislation will apply to all new vehicles on the road, as noise emission targets become more stringent.

CEVA Logistics has announced the launch of a new weekly LCL (Less-than-Container Load) service from Singapore to New York. This is the first guaranteed weekly service direct to the U.S. from Singapore as part of the company’s initiative to enhance its LCL offerings serving Trans-pacific needs. The weekly direct sailing service will take approximately 23 days from port to port, providing customers with predictability and better control of their cargo movement.CEVA Logistics has signed a long term contract with Universal Music, to manage their Contract Logistics operations in Brazil. CEVA Logistics turned in a solid Second Quarter performance in the face of several industry headwinds and significant exchange rate fluctuations. Second Quarter revenue of $1,776 million was up 0.3 percent year-over-year in constant currency driven by volume growth, partially offset by freight rates and fuel prices.
CarWale group recorded 21.09 million visits in the month of July 2015, registering a 47 percent growth over the same period last year. Of the total visits, CarWale recorded 16.34 million visits, while its two-wheeler counterpart BikeWale clocked 4.74 million visits in June. CEVA Logistics has won a two year extension for customs brokerage services with Volvo Cars of North America. The company, headquartered in Rockleigh, New Jersey, is the U.S. subsidiary of the Swedish luxury automotive manufacturer. CEVA’s U.S. customs brokerage team had been providing services to Volvo through an initial one year contract, which was subsequently extended.
CEVA Logistics announced it has signed a deal with TANAP (Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Project) to manage the logistics operations for the movement of giant pipes. TANAP aims to transport 16 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan to Turkey, and to Europe through Turkey at an estimated cost of $10 billion.

Canada is strengthening proposed new safety standards for rail cars carrying crude oil, requiring thicker steel and other improvements. The latest Transport Canada proposals, published go beyond earlier announcements by requiring rail cars carrying crude to have thicker steel, full “head shields,” mandatory thermal ‘jacket’ protection among other upgrades.

CEVA Holdings LLC reported results for the three months ended 31 December 2014. Freight Management volume trends remained healthy in the quarter, with Air Freight volume growing six per cent, outpacing the market.
