Dec 01, 2016: Finnair Cargo’s new cargo management system, SkyChain, goes live today, December 1, 2016.

“The implementation of the new system might cause some temporary delays in our service but we will do our best to mitigate potential disruptions to cargo flows in our network,” said the airline company in a statement.

Earlier this year, Finnair Cargo had signed an agreement with Mercator, a leading provider of software and technology-led solutions to the global aviation industry, for its air cargo management solution, SkyChain.

At the same, the cargo carrier is looking forward to the opening of Finnair’s new cargo terminal in spring 2017.

The new terminal is an integral part of Finnair’s future growth plans as the new Airbus A350 XWB aircraft fleet will bring 50 percent more cargo capacity by 2020.

The Mercator platform and new cargo terminal will ensure the smooth scaling and handling of Finnair’s cargo volumes.
