JULY 1, 2015: Air Berlin has made two important new appointments as part of the company’s restructuring, gaining two leading internationally experienced airline industry executives on its management team: Desi Barkhuizen and Ole Orvér will take the positions of Senior Vice President Revenue Management & Pricing and Senior Vice President Network Strategy Planning.

Desi Barkhuizen will rejoin airberlin as Senior Vice President Revenue Management & Pricing, reporting directly to the COO, Julio Rodriguez. She served previously at airberlin as SVP Revenue Management & Pricing on secondment from Etihad Airways from September 2012 to September 2013. She has over 20 years of airline experience, mostly in Revenue Management, and holds degrees both in Physics and Economics. Desi joins airberlin from Etihad Airways where she held the position of VP Revenue Management for the past five years.

Also effective July the management team will be complemented by Ole Orvér (49), the new Senior Vice President of Network Strategy Planning, who until further notice reports directly to the CEO. Orvér was most recently Senior Vice President Corporate Planning at Qatar Airways, and previously held various management positions at LOT Polish Airlines and the SAS Group. He brings more than 26 years’ experience in the aviation industry.

“I’m delighted that we’ve appointed two highly skilled and experienced airline managers for these important roles. Together with their teams, they will continue and be responsible for our strategic reorganisation within their respective divisions, thus making an important contribution to strengthening airberlin’s core business”, said Stefan Pichler, CEO airberlin.
