May 15, 2017: Bolloré Logistics Malawi has been appointed to manage tea exports for agro-industrial company Camellia Plc.

With a footprint in several East African countries, Camellia Plc is one of Malawi's leading tea producers and exporters through its subsidiary Eastern Produce Malawi. Camellia Plc is an international group that is also active in the macadamia nut and avocado markets, with production facilities in Kenya, Malawi and South Africa.

With all their expertise in the management of fragile commodities, Bolloré Logistics Malawi's teams were able to offer a complete logistics offer to Eastern Produce Malawi, from the reception of the commodities in Blantyre to their transfer to the port of Beira, Mozambique and Durban, South Africa; to regional markets and private sales within Malawi.

More than 19,000 tonnes of tea for export from the southern region of Malawi was entrusted to Bolloré Logistics Malawi's teams.

31 Bolloré Logistics Malawi employees, specialised in the storage and transfer of tea, were involved in Eastern Produce's 2016 crop year.

More than 4,700 sqm of "Food Grade Certified" warehousing facilities, with a capacity to store approximately 3,000 pallets of tea sacks, were provided to the customer with an additional storage offer of 2,500 sqm in case of seasonal peaks. These warehouses, secured by a 24-hour alarm and video surveillance system, are equipped with a WMS for optimal management of tea stocks destined for export. Bolloré Logistics Malawi's teams were also able to offer a number of value-added logistics services, including batch preparation, labeling service, palletizing and packing on a dedicated platform with a capacity 30 truckloads per week.

By outsourcing part of its export chain, Eastern Produce Malawi can concentrate on the tea production and harvesting activities upstream of its logistics chain, thus strengthening its presence on the Malawi tea market.
