The preparations for Air Cargo India 2016 (ACI 2016) have started in earnest. The three-day event is at The Grand Hyatt in Mumbai which is a novel venue that strays from convention. The exhibition takes place at a specially constructed hangar. On the eve of the exhibition, stall construction is in full swing as the booths reek of freshly coated veneers of paint. And one can almost envisage what the event would look like on the inaugural day of the exhibition, which is just a few hours away, as the hangar is bustling with activity and is chock full of last minute preparations for the show.
With more than 70 exhibitors that include top airlines like Etihad Cargo, Emirates SkyCargo, Saudia Cargo, Kenya Airways Cargo. Ethiopian Cargo, Cargolux, Oman Air, Skyteam Cargo are among others spread across an area of 3,200 square metres. ACI 2016 would be from February 23 – 25 and is expected to see more than 3000 cargo professionals visit the venue.
The event shall provide a new outlook on the air cargo industry as it gears up to reach new horizons. It shall provide a glimpse into the future of the air cargo industry while highlighting novel solutions, disruptive innovations and provide insight into the future of air cargo while taking into account new developments such as e-commerce.
“The air freight sector has a key role to play in the success of the ‘Make in India’ initiative. I hope that the deliberations and exchanges shall lead to productive outcomes,” said Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in his message to the organisers of ACI 2016.
The theme of the event is “Make in India: air cargo makes it happen”. Since the ‘Make in India initiative has captured the imagination of the country and even the international trade fraternity. The Modi-led government is to place significant emphasis?on e-governance, air connectivity, airport development.
The conferences that will be held on all three days of the event have been specifically designed to delve into key aspects that would have implications on the future of air cargo and delineate long term solutions. Conference sessions will take place at the ballroom in Grand Hyatt.
ACI 2016 shall also endeavour to bring air shippers to the heart of every conversation in air freight sector. Thus on the first day of the event, Brussels Airport hosts the Pharma Air Shippers Forum for logistics and supply chain heads of leading pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and all those else engaged in the pharma supply chain. It will be a platform to assess various segments of the air logistics industry while addressing key challenges and opportunities in the pharma export and supply chain.
In a similar fashion, on the second day, Frankfurt Airport will host the Air Shippers Forum bringing together air shippers from the apparel and automotive industries. ACI 2016 shall also feature a session that shall focus on the booming e-commerce industry which is considered as being the future of global commerce.
Undoubtedly, ACI 2016 is expected to be an impressive spectacle for the global air freight industry and shall play a significant role towards foster its evolution.
