AIR CARGO INDIA 2006
concluded after 3 days of conference.& exhibition on
18th November, 2006. An unique event
organised by STAT Times, it was the first ever such
International air cargo event ever to be held in
India.
STAT Times- an integrated media house specializing in
air cargo -successfully organized the 3 day event at
the World Trade Center in Mumbai. The event attracted
Boeing, Dubai Logistics City and Srilanka as its
sponsors.
Attended by industry leaders from the Air Cargo
Industry around the world, Air Cargo India 2006 had
its theme Air Cargo in an Emerging Market.
Thirty three exhibitors from fifteen countries and
over 160 delegates participated in this first-ever
international air cargo event in the commercial
capital of India.
The three-day exhibition attracted over 1200 trade
visitors to see the Air Cargo products & services for
the first time.
The conference was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr.
S.S. Sidhu, the governor of Manipur who was the first
Indian to become Secretary General of International
Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). who spoke
glowingly about the prospects of the air cargo
industry in India.
Ram Menen, Divisional Senior Vice President
(Cargo) Emirates Airlines delivered the Keynote
Address.
Trade circles were elated that such an event was
finally held in India as it gave unprecedented
exposure to all players. The 4 business sessions were
addressed by air cargo veterans who spoke to an
audience of industry experts from various fields. The
topics covered in depth a gamut of issues from
infrastructure to operations, policy to future plans,
information technology to disaster management, supply
chain efficiency to fiscal responsibility.
The unprecedented event drew huge crowds of trade
visitors who got to interact with global giants like
Emirates SkyCargo, Boeing, Cargolux, Air India,
Airbus, Etihad Airways, Dubai Logistics, SriLankan
Airlines and many other illustrious organizations
involved in the global air cargo industry.
Exhibitors were also thrilled to have an easy access
to the biggest players in the fastest growing Indian
Air Cargo markets. Growing at nearly 20% in India,
airfreight is integral to the booming economy which
has led to 490 aircrafts being booked to accommodate
the increased traffic.
The evenings were fun with networking opportunity and
business took a break but not for long, as the final
day saw the presentation of an unique award. After
conducting extensive research, STAT Times decided to
institute a “Air Cargo Brand of the Decade
Award” and the
winner was Emirates SkyCargo for their unique role in
popularizing Air Cargo as a Brand.
